New England XJ

Midnight Maxim

1983 Yamaha XJ750MK

The 1980s XJ Yamaha Midnight Maxims were some of the sharpest looking motorcycles ever.

The gold chrome trim, mag alloy wheels ( also gold), along with the black chrome pipes, black handle bars and engine, are a certain to catch the eye of most any pedestrian or passerby.

But looks are not the only character this classic machine possess, the 750s with their 4 cylinder,  inline engines produced exhilarating  acceleration performance. These bikes run smooth and mellow (though not mellow like a V-engine) at low too moderate speeds, but when the throttle is twisted back ...Wow impressive, or to much for most of us.

Now although these bikes are really quick, they're  not designed as racing bikes, For one thing the bike pictured above is shaft driven. Shaft drive is convenient, clean, low maintenance and nice looking, but shaft drive bikes are not known to have the best high performance handling. And of course from the design of the bike you can see it is not styled like the café racers. How ever if one ever wanted performance, style, convenience the XJ 750s are a great bike.
